One from developers who want to build housing

This series has been running since 2018, but this is my first time watching it. Last night I finished the first episode of the first season, it’s almost 90 minutes long. As for the introduction of the Dutton family, we see that they have a strong influence in their valley, but they are fighting off “invasions”. The other from a neighboring Native reservation who wants to get some of their land back and cattle.

"1883" which is a prequel of sorts

To help cope with all this and the sheer size of his ranch. Dutton (who is played by a real-life 60-year-old Kevin Costner) has several grown-up Cowboy boys and a helicopter with a dedicated pilot. The reason I watched the first episode of the first season (streamed on Peacock) was because I wanted to get to know the Dutton family because I’m currently watching ten episodes of the newer Taylor Sheridan show. It was (fictional) 1883 when the Dutton family from Tennessee joined a larger group on a wagon train from Fort Worth Texas “somewhere out west”.

With boys born around 1875, 1900, 1925 and the 1950s

They must have stopped when they got to Montana. Again, it’s fiction, but if we look at the ages of the men and the fact that Costner was born in 1955, his character would probably be the grandson of the Dutton patriarch (played by Tim McGraw) in “1883”. E.g. "Yellowstone" is a really great series, the actors are all first class, the cinematography and sound are excellent.

It’s just not the kind of show I could invest in and keep watching

It’s hard to find characters with redeeming qualities and I really don’t like shows in the long run that focus on constant arguments and fights and often killing. Now in my 70s I prefer to spend my time watching "pleasant" stories.NB – "1883" is a really great and interesting series in how it authentically portrays the great effort involved in pulling up roots and traveling through unknown territories trying to find a new life in a new place.
