It explores key, upside-down moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and takes audiences into uncharted territory. Chadwick Boseman’s final Marvel project before his death. The Guardian: [narration at the beginning of each episode] Time. Space. Reality. It’s more than a linear path. It’s a prism of infinite possibilities, where a single decision can branch into infinite realities, and alternate worlds emerge from the worlds you know. I am the Guardian. I am your guide through these vast new realities. Follow me and ponder the question “What if?” When the Marvel logo appears, it changes to an animated form in the show’s art style. Added as part of Marvel Studios: Legends: Guardians of the Multiverse (2023). A very straightforward episode, where things are rushed to fit the pieces of the puzzle correctly. And my expression was pretty straight-forward too, as I watched this episode, because there was no suspense or logical narrative. I understand that it’s an animated series aimed at kids maybe? But only kids who know the entire MCU by now will be able to enjoy them. We’ll see how the other episodes develop, but after this one I’m sure I won’t be so excited about them anymore. Edit: Episode 2 gave a real sense of what the MCU is all about, it was creative and thoughtful, and had some great WHAT-IF moments. I really enjoyed seeing T’challa back on screen. Episode 3 was a letdown though, and made me edit this review. It was so exciting and suspenseful to watch that I could have watched an entire movie based on this episode. Familiar characters are re-examined at a level that leaves you wanting more. I hope to reach a 10 star episode by the end of the season. Edit II: Here goes a star for a “weird” but thought-provoking episode that was by far the best of the series in terms of writing, narration, animation, and plot. Special mention goes to Benedict Cumberbatch for his masterful voice-over. Kudos to Marvel for this achievement. Now onto episode 5: The episode was definitely entertaining, it was humorous and engaging with quality animation, but it also showed too much and didn’t give viewers enough time to absorb things. Overall, still a 9/10 for the series, at least until the next two episodes. You’ll have to beat episode 4 to get a 10 from me.
